"You took what someone else had done and then you claimed it as your own. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourself, so you have not earnt the respect that would be rightfully yours.
You have risen from the shoulders of labour to accomplish something as fast as you could without the noble tradition of your own blood sweat and tears. You now wear a fools grin and every step you take is a step you did not earn"
I have been playing this game for almost a year. I had never heard of it until a mate introduced me too it. I admit, It did take me a while to get into it, you know, the steap learning curves, painful lessons, often extreme frustration. But what a game!!
I feel I have earnt my place in the universe, as small as it may be, and the ever occuring, rediculous amount of times I run into a fire fight with no ammo.
But it has been tarnished. Deflated I am. As the year that has passed - means nothing, when those you wanted to share the game with, have broken all the rules. This game truly does reflect real life. There are those who want everything now, instantly, pay any price, but must have it - to get ahead. So next time you are in 0.0 and you pop me, know you have popped someone who has earnt his place. And to those who begin playing this game and buy a character with illegal isk, there is karma in the eve universe and I hope I'm there when it kicks you in the arse.

Some interesting comments - It is true this game has created such a demand. I can see why people go out of there way to buy into it - especially when you start playing and feel you are so far behind.
It is a trap alright - almost addictive hey :)
but there has to be some way - or a system where it has to be verified that you own the money before you purchase a character - or is this just far fetched.
On the flip side - and I dare not say it - isn't all this good for eve, the little cottage industy it spawned and getting people hooked like on alcohol or cigs - keep em coming back - we will put a nasty picture on the cigarette pack just like ccp yell it encourages fruad and blah blah blah - is it really truth or just token hype.

All great quotes often need to be reinvented to convey a sentiment - but you are right Ian did say it much better:)

wow I find it hard to believe someone would pay that much - and more so someone would have that amount of spare cash

No hard earnt cash is very respectable. It's just when new players buy billions of isk to get hight skilled characters - I am just seeing how it ruins the game.

But if you guys found out someone had bought there way in - would you go out of your way to give em a hard time - rip on em, hunt em down - or let em join yah corp?

Thats a good point about the GTC - you could buy a whole bunch of them for real life money, sell em on these forums and make enough money to buy a new 36million sp character.
But in reality it would cost you twice as much buying gtc's as it would purchasing isk illegally - so naturally people are going to want to pay less for the isk - so of course they will turn to illegal purchases.
If ccp lowered the price to match the crooks then maybe people would buy from them - but then the crooks would lower their prices - so you can't win

I'd like to know how it really affects people - It is siad, it has real life consequences, like fraud - I mean is murder next. All this stuff is mentioned without any facts behind it - I would like to read some real stories - apart from a few paragraphs issued by ccp.

I hear yah Nambu - I could be whining over spilt milk. Nothing to do wIth being ganked, blown up or beaten to a pulp in a gang fight - besides thats a normal day out in eve for me
To explain - I guess in a way this ruined the game for me. Working on a character for a year, and then having someone you know, just start playing buy isk to get a 36mill sp character just bugged me I guess. He didn't earn it. Now prancing around bragging about what he can fly - but yes maybe I should suck it up and play the game for my own reasons - the enjoyment:) not to be king of the hill
